About

Model UN for students, by students.

The American University Diplomatic Scrimmage (AUDS) is a one-day Model United Nations conference open to all undergraduates from the student body. Offering a unique array of beginner and advanced committees, this AMIRS initiative seeks to engage participants with the educational and community-building power of Model UN.

AMIRS could not be more excited to launch AUDS and what it hopes to be a longstanding tradition at American University.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation, offering students the chance to engage with the operations of various global committees, national bodies, and the United Nations agencies. Those participating in MUN role-play as delegates, countries, or officials as they engage in fruitful debates to cooperate on producing solutions to conflicts and political affairs. As a result, students often develop skills in public speaking, diplomacy, and overall gain a better understanding of relevant topics in the international community.

  • The American University Diplomatic Scrimmage (AUDS) is an upcoming project under the American University International Relations Society (AMIRS). It is a one-day conference hosted to introduce students to the world of Model UN and give an opportunity to past Model UN participants in joining heated debates and to sharpen their skills! Unlike the other MUN conferences under AMIRS—such as AmeriMUNC and WIRC—AUDS is an internal conference where attendees are students attending American University. AUDS is open to all students willing to join and experience the conference!

  • The primary cost of the conference is $15, which will include a meal ticket that provides lunch and a drink during the midday break. Prefer on-campus dining instead of catering? No problem: you can still enjoy the AUDS experience for just $10, no meal ticket necessary. Those $10 will fund conference operations: technical costs, outreach, and resources. When you fill out the registration form, make sure to note which payment option you would prefer—with or without a meal ticket!

  • Registration is simple: just fill out the form on the registration tab! After that, a confirmation email will be sent to the address you register with; in this email is the password to the delegate portal, which is where you will find Model UN resources, information about AMIRS, and your committee’s background guide. Before the conference, an email will be sent regarding your committee and character/country assignment and a detailed schedule of conference day!
