Welcome from the Chargé D’Affaires

WIRC is more than just an educational conference. It’s a place for high school students to find themselves as delegates.

We recognize the strength of Model UN as a form of empowerment for students growing into themselves. At WIRC, we strive to provide a place where students can focus on this growth through learning prior to competition. Through WIRCshops taught by our award-winning AUMUN delegates and experienced conference staffers, realistic committee simulations, and an open-minded, non-judgemental environment, we offer an unparalleled opportunity for students to learn from the best of the best.

Further, we are rooted in an understanding of the need for accessible and affordable Model United Nations training for young students. Every student who desires it should have access to an environment in which they can learn how to be the best version of themselves as a delegate, student, and person. Therefore, we have committed to creating a WIRC which gives every student this chance. We want to see every student transform from a novice to a force in their committees, and we are incredibly excited to be a part of that transformation.

Our Growing Impact

From Poolesville High School down the road in Maryland to The Knox School in downstate New York, to Hershey High School in Southeastern Pennsylvania, WIRC has welcomed high schools from across the East Coast, all bound by a fundamental belief in the power of exchange.

Veteran and novice Model United Nations teams have shared workshops, committee, and faculty meeting spaces, each bringing a unique perspective to the conversations. What has emerged is an unmatched community, committed to mutual encouragement and support, a global education, and most importantly, the empowerment of a future generation of young leaders. Over the years, AMIRS has changed leadership, conference structures, and delegate services, but what has endured has been a nationwide community of schools. WIRC is so thankful and excited to continue serving this group of dedicated advisors and students, which has enriched the AMIRS community with its continued support and active participation.

MEET OUR TEAM

The Secretariat, the principal executive organ of WIRC, is organized along departmental lines with each member leading a department or having a distinct area of action and responsibility. Departments coordinate with each other to ensure cohesion as they carry out the day-to-day work and execution of WIRC. At the head of the WIRC Secretariat is the Charge D’Affairs.
