Welcome from the Head Delegate
Our Model United Nations team has established itself as a force to be reckoned with on the collegiate circuit.
Six years ago, we broke into the top five ranked teams in North America for the very first time. Since then, AUMUN has earned its status as one of the most prestigious collegiate MUN programs in the country, having now been only the second team to be ranked #1 for 3 consecutive years. Our continued success is due to our rigorous training, dedicated leadership, and most importantly, the efforts of our new and returning members. With our sights set on the new school year, we need your help to continue building our reputation of greatness.
The AU Model United Nations Team is a dedicated group of students that represent all spheres of life at American University. Most of our current members did not have prior experience in Model UN before joining AUMUN, but we all share a competitive spirit and a passion for diplomacy. To join this team is to join a motivated, diligent, and caring community that will provide its members with the support they need to thrive in Model United Nations and beyond.
I am excited for the coming competitive season, and I am looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of members who will help bring this team to new heights.

Interested in joining?
The next tryouts for the American University Model United Nations team will be held on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15. Tryouts are generally highly competitive, and all members (including returning members) must participate each semester.
Strong candidates for the team demonstrate developed speaking and interpersonal skills. Previous MUN experience is not required. Candidates to join the team may also be asked to participate in an interview with team leadership. In order to attend tryouts, individuals must apply to become a member of AMIRS through the common application.
OUR HISTORY
“American University’s success story, rising in the ranks over the course of a few short years was nothing short of a feat, made possible only by the sheer passion, drive, and dedication of its members, what we all consider to be family. Our continued success lies in the determination of its members, veteran and new, to never stay stagnant. They are, put simply, a force that continues to be reckoned with. It’s evidenced by the record-breaking point achievements to the perpetual late nights of not just training, but genuine friendship like no other. AUMUN has and will continue to dominate the circuit with some of the best competitors there are. They dominate not only in their friendship, compassion, and loyalty to each other but also in their call to foster a new age of inclusivity and equity in the circuit. The powerhouse that is AUMUN looks forward to the upcoming season with a team and a family that will hopefully stop taking “tokens” from conference hotels, will continue to have major water wars and extensive debriefs and will usher in our new incoming class with the same rigor and passion for MUN and diplomacy. Last year, we achieved our highest rank ever, and it wasn’t even close. We can’t wait for the year to come!”

Our All Stars
AUMUN stars continue to shine on the circuit
Because of our commitment to being the most diplomatic delegates on the circuit, AUMUN members have been rewarded year after year with positions on the Best Delegate collegiate All-Stars list. Voted by their peers both on AUMUN and across the circuit, this reflects the continued persistence of AUMUN to go above and beyond. Below are each of our delegates who have been honored, and the year they received their commendation.
