Divide & Conquer: AU Sweeps at NYUMUNC, VICS

This weekend the AU Model United Nations team sent two delegations to conferences at New York University and University of Virginia. While there, AU delegates built lasting connections with students from many other universities and demonstrated their prowess in diplomacy, public speaking, and creative thinking. AU brought home a total of thirteen total awards including two first time “gavels” or individual best delegate awards.

After finding out that the AU delegation at NYU had won Outstanding Large Delegation at NYU, Head Delegate Zachary Bontempo said “The fact that we able to perform so well with a split delegation is a testament to the level of dedication and preparation that this team has put in. I could not be more proud of our new members and veterans alike, and I’m overwhelmed by the heights that this team continues to reach.” The individual awards received by AU delegates at NYUMUNC are as follows:

  2. Zach Houdek, Verbal Commendation in China 908AD: Wu

  3. Sam Meyer, Honorable Delegate in China 908AD: Shu

  4. Jack Quinn, Verbal Commendation in Rebuilding Humanity: New DC

  5. Mary Dent, Best Delegate in Rebuilding Humanity: Northwest

  6. Josh Iseler, Best Delegate in Rebuilding Humanity: Midwest

  7. Zachary Bontempo, Honorable Delegate in Crime Syndicates: USA

  8. Jackson Malmgren, Outstanding Delegate in Crime Syndicates: Consortium of Criminals

  9. Mike O’Connor, Outstanding Delegate in Black Hawk Down

  10. Emma Horseman, Best Delegate in Crime Syndicates: Mexico

Assistant Head Delegate Mehak Chadha led the AU delegation to the Virginia International Crisis Simulation (VICS) at University of Virginia. She said “The AU delegation at VICS had an amazing time in Charlottesville. It was many of our delegate’s first crisis conference ever and they absolutely killed it. So proud of everyone.” The individual awards received by AU delegates at VICS are as follows:

  2. Simon Lux, Outstanding Delegate in 2017 Zimbabwe Coup D’Etat

  3. Zach Stahl, Outstanding Delegate in US National Security Council
